AFAP Membership Categories

PLEASE NOTE: All membership categories except Supporter require recognition or accreditation by a teacher training program. At the present time we are only recognizing teaching accreditation from the following programs and instructors:

Justisse College

The Well (formerly Grace of the Moon)

Natural Fertility Training & Certification Program (currently available in Hebrew, in Israel only)

Eden Fertilité (in French)

We are working on expanding the list of programs and instructors who are accredited. We are moving thoughtfully through this process to ensure that all AFAP member instructors are highly qualified, have similar areas of competency, and adhere to similar practice principles. We appreciate your patience as carry out this work. Anyone is welcome to join AFAP as a Supporter.

For more detailed information regarding training and accreditation, see the Teacher Training and Accreditation page of our site.

Membership Fees

As a result of hundreds of years of exploitation and institutionalized oppression, an enormous “wealth gap” separates white households from those of Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color (BIPOC). The wealth gap is even wider for those who hold more than one marginalized identity (rooted in disability, gender, sexuality, age, citizenship status, etc.). Financial inequity creates marked divisions in opportunity in the US and Canada, where a majority of AFAP members reside, and in other countries whose wealth was built through slavery and the many forms of colonialism.

We see a consequence of this inequity in the field of fertility awareness-based method (FABM) instruction, which is disproportionately white, as is AFAP’s current membership. While there is a great deal of additional work to be done, our fee structure reflects our intention to create more equity, diversity, and inclusion in our organization and in the field as a whole.

(Note: All fees are expressed in US dollars.)

  • If you are BIPOC, we invite you to have your membership fee waived, not based on any assumption about individual economic status, but rather as a small token of reparations for harm done by colonialism and enslavement, as well as centuries of oppression that continue to this day. To choose this membership option, please select “Reparations” in the membership form.
  • We also wish to be inclusive of people who are financially disadvantaged, especially those who experience employment discrimination or economic hardship due to holding one or more marginalized identities. If you are in this situation, we invite you to select a membership fee that matches your financial capacity, from $0 to the maximum amount in your membership category (see below). To choose this membership option, please select “Sliding Scale” in the membership form.
  • Our standard membership fees are as follows:
    • Supporter: $50
    • Fertility Awareness Educator (FAE) in training: $50
    • FAE accredited: $100
  • Finally, we invite those who are financially secure to join us in making our organization more accessible and equitable by subsidizing memberships for others. If you are in a position to do so, we encourage you to add an extra $10-$50 to your membership fee. You will see these options in the drop down menu for payment amounts. Thank you for your generosity.
